Light hearted love life help

I felt slightly out of place reading and reviewing a book based on single relationships whilst being happily married. Now I only wish I had read it whilst being single! He texted is the perfect combo of good advice for those who need it whilst being light hearted enough to remind us to not take it all too seriously. A fun read fist and foremost.... with advice from some pretty cool people thrown in.

Stop Texting And Start Talking!

Single women from every generation have always wondered if the man that occupies her thoughts is “The One.” Does she ever cross his mind as often as he crosses hers? In today’s modern world where the majority of communication is done electronically with a slew of various gadgets and devices, dating has become a tricky ledge that women find themselves treading upon very carefully, trying to decipher what Mr. Wonderful’s most recent text, email, Facebook comment, etc., really means. With He Texted, the authors bring the reader some direct analysis and somewhat expert advice and varying points of view from three men, known as The Bros covering a wide range of scenarios to help the single gal determine if he’s a keeper or if she should move on.

While reading this book, I couldn’t stop thinking that if the women who submitted the texts for analysis spent as much time verbally communicating with the man she is interested in as she does trying to first decipher and comprehend his texts, emails, etc., she would probably find herself in a meaningful relationship in no time. But then what do I know? I’m certainly no expert on relationships or matters of the heart, but I can’t help but think that in order to determine if you are compatible, it’s best to get to know each other speaking out loud to one another. As a society, are we really too busy to do that or are we just lazy and just want to see positive results with little to no effort on our part?

I found this book very easy to read and enjoyed that the authors had real men offering real advice about the various topics ranging from “he friended” to “he booty-texted” to “he loves you” and all of the pitfalls and drama in between. You could also get the same advice, feedback and interaction if you just visit the He Texted website. I also enjoyed that even with the various points of view from both the guys and the gals, there was no gender bashing. The guys were not afraid to label another guy a tool or the girl as na�ve or gullible, but when they did, they did so with tact and professionalism. Nobody went off on a tangent, jumping on the soapbox to vilify one gender over the other. I felt like the advice and feedback provided was given with sincerity and honesty. The book also provides a good amount of humor, especially with the “text examples” provided in the book.

Overall, although common sense and logic should prevail and people should be interacting with their voices instead of their thumbs on a keypad, the digital age we live in is proof that it isn’t happening. More people are finding their mates online year after year and this book provides a good road map for Ms. Single Gal to use to help her understand the signs so she is successful on her journey to Happily Ever After.

Perfect for everyone dating right now!

I loved this book and the great insight it gave into dating in the digital world. Between texting, facebook messaging and snapchat it can get pretty difficult. The Bros advice was amazing and Jared was absolutely hilarious! Definitely recommend this book to anyone who's dating. From 20 year olds to 50 year olds, there's something in here that will help you out before your next date.

Master storyteller of 20th century Britain

Graham Greene just doesn't get the recognition he deserves as a short story writer. As a novelist, his reputation has been well-established, fortunately. This collection, "Twenty-One Stories" is a fine sampler of Greene's abilities in the shorter genre. Many of the elements that feature so prominently in his novels also figure in these stories: the spontaneity of violence; ruthless polictics; looming secrets; greed; and the complex situations that life drops on you.
Here are some brief looks at my favorite stories:
"The Destructors" is Greene's examination of horrific, calculated vandalism in the extreme, made even more horrifying by the coolness with which it is carried out.
An event in a man's past comes back to haunt him in "The Blue Film". Strangely, the haunting specter doesn't frighten him so much as saddens him.
Purely-plot driven, "The Case for the Defence" is still a brilliant tale worthy of an Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
"Brother" explores the nature of political allegiances and the risks of making them known.
Lastly, "The End of the Party" is a harrowing tale of identical twins playing hide and seek at a party. The ending paragraph left goosebumps on my skin for days.
For those who have never read Graham Greene, "Twenty-One Stories" ought to be your starting point.

The Greene We've Been Told About!

As the title says, 21 short stories from 1929-1954 that showcase what a versatile and accomplished writer Greene is.The human condition is his theme,humour tragedy,violence and hope are his illustrators.
All the stories are so well rounded they read like miniature novels.Hard as it is to single out favourites,I loved the humour behind 'Greek meets Greek'-two old con men unwittingly trying to con each other,the swipe at Laputian bureaucracy in 'Men at Work' and the brilliant 'Basement Room',told from a childs perspective as the narrator tries to comprehend an adult world of infidelity deceptions and death.
Ever since I started reading I've had Graham Greene lauded to me,but-despite enjoying 'Monsignor Quixote' and 'The Lawless Roads'-his novels have always grated with their compulsory Catholic character and illusions that-to me- have absolutely no relevence to the story at all(they might just as well be Pagans or Jedhi Knights)and Greene always struck me as the converted bore(Greene converted to Catholicism aged 22)who goes on and on about their new found faith that you cant possible share or care about.It seemed obsession bordering on fetish to me.
But-at last! With 21 stories I can both see and appreciate the great writer they were on about. Yes,there are Catholic characters and illusions, but here there is a point ('The Hint of an Explanation')and thoughts are provoked.
This is a great introduction to Greene. I wish I'd read it first-it may have stemmed my antagonism to his novels and I might have enjoyed them more (I'll know on re-reading)and is up there with the best of them in the short story genre.

A Mixed Bag Worth Opening...

As many probably have, I hunted down Graham Greene's TWENTY ONE STORIES in order to -finally- read THE DESTRUCTORS. While quite impressed by this metaphorical tale, I was more struck by just how good the rest of the book was. Several stories are classics in themselves, especially, to me at least, Greene's more macabre, eerie, twist-y titles like A LITTLE PLACE OFF THE EDGWARE ROAD, PROOF POSITIVE, and THE END OF THE PARTY. Others, such as A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY, THE BASEMENT ROOM, and A CHANCE FOR MR. LEVER are grim, human stories of life, death, and the odd, sometimes unexpected misadventures in between. The whole collection is worth reading, and some of the shortest stories fall from memory, but that means they'll be just as enjoyable the second or twelfth time around!...

Amazing... Will inspire you and uplift anyone who is going through times of struggle.

Wow... Never have I been more inspired by a book. Thione details his life growing up in extreme poverty in Senegal, but in a way to explain that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

This book touched me tremendously. Mr. Niang has generously shared his personal journey in detail with us in this inspiring memoirs. A phenomenal man with humble beginnings, he continues to not only inspire, but engage and uplift people all over the world. This is a rare glimpse into the nuances of contemporary Senegal, US immigration, politics and Obama's presidential campaign, and global travel. I highly recommend this book to educators, students, and anyone interested in enhancing their global competencies.

Just as Byzantine churches have found ways to accommodate sequential marriages and other behavior once stridently condemned, this book argues, it is possible for Byzantine Christianity to make pastoral accommodations for gay relationships and same-sex marriage.

Stephen Morris is a Yale trained independent scholar who has studied at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Academy. He has written on patristic preaching and exegesis as well as medieval and Byzantine hagiography, and lives in New York City.

Same sex unions performed by the Orthodox Church--holy sh*t!

I am neither an academic or religious, but as a gay man, I was surprised and happy to learn that there is a precedent for a same sex marriage service in the orthodox church. This book clearly lays out the context of how same sex practices were viewed (and tolerated) in Byzantium, through thorough historical research. The author, who was an Orthodox priest and a homosexual, shares his intimate knowledge of the church and liturgy as well as his own experiences as a gay man committed to the precepts of the Orthodox church. Religious institutions change notoriously slowly, but this book gives one the hope that there may very well come a day when same sex unions will be fully sanctified. It's an inspiring read not only for religious scholars, but for anyone who is struggling to integrate their religious beliefs and their sexuality-- or for anyone who believes that whoever we fall in love with, that commitment should be honored and welcomed by all.

Highly recommended

I am extremely impressed with the thoughtful writing and thorough research presented in this book. As someone who is fairly new to religion I have been very skeptical in my reading; many books fail to provide clear references and I do not want to be led by opinion. The way the book is structured, with in-text citations and extensive referencing allowing me to feel confident in the factual basis of the writing. The author very wisely separates his own reflections for the reader so that we also have the opportunity view this material from his unique perspective. It is interesting to read this work in context of our current political climate and given the authors life experiences as noted in the introduction. I highly recommend this book.

Bath Bomb Recipes was a very informative book that I really enjoyed reading. The author gave this book a nice flow with very detailed instructions. There is a very nice variety of recipes in the bath bombs that I could give every one in my family a different bath bomb. The recipes included in this book include muscle relaxation recipes, recipes with green tea (my favorite) bath bombs to soften your water, and even holiday themed bath bombs for holidays such as Easter. What I found interesting is the fact that the author included bath bomb recipes specifically for men. I am sure that my family will love these this year! There are fragrance bath bomb recipes for my female family members, itty-bitty bombs I could use as "stocking stuffers" at Christmas time. Oh, and I applaud the author for adding a conversion table at the beginning of the book, that is really helpful for people like me who wouldn`t have otherwise known.

I love a goo bubble bath, and this makes it possible for me to choose the fragrance, skin softeners or whatever ingredients I wants to add to my bath. These bath bombs are really easy to make, too. I think I might be able to sell them at the local consignment shop.
